PIN FOR LATER!
Starting a blog can be your way out of the co-operate world. It can be your way to spend more time with your family, to be financially independent, and travel the world. It can also be your place of creative writing. It can be so many great things but at the beginning, everything is so overwhelming especially the burden of making choices.
Not only the technical part of the process like which hosting provider to use, which website building platform, and other things. But an even more difficult decision is to choose the blog niche or the main topic for your blog/website. You have to think of the niche that will be profitable but at the same time, it has to be something that you are genuinely interested in writing about. Otherwise, you will have an early burnout as a blogger.

In this blog post, I’ll not mention choosing any technical or design elements, marketing, or other content-related topics. I’ll focus on the steps leading up to the topic decision or niche decision.
Before we go into that, let’s define and explain what a Niche is.
WHAT IS A NICHE
A niche is not only the topic that you are going to write about, but it’s also the approach you’re going to take, the audience you want to target, and the way you’re going to talk to them and position yourself as someone who is an expert in the field or simply someone who is willing to share his/her experience in the topic.
Let’s get started
So the first thing you need to do is
- Explore your Interests and Expertise
It is important to choose a topic or a niche for your blog that you’re passionate about or at least interested in. Otherwise, it can become very tedious. My advice is to explore the introspection of your interest and expertise or your hobbies and past experiences. With trending topics or what might interest others. Find a problem to solve or a unique voice of yours to provide to your readers and you would be on the right track to focusing on a good and popular Niche/topic for your blog.
2. Thinking about Monetization
When you think about a blog topic that will make you money you need to give some thoughts to your methods of monetization.
How are you going to turn visitors to your blog and page views into sources of your income? Popular options include Advertising affiliate or referral programs, making and selling your own products or services.
Why you need to consider these in the Context of Blog Niche Ideas.
Well, it is because the best monetization methods are different for different niches. E.g.: With a food blog or home décor blog, the easiest way to start making money with it is by displaying ads on your site. That is possible because with these 2 niches you will be able to get tons of traffic from Pinterest. In order for more narrow or business-related topics you will not ever get as much traffic and in this case, making money with ads will not make sense because you can offer high ticket affiliate products or even sell your own services or digital products.
3. Thinking about/ Analyze your Competition
You likely would want to come up with a few blogging niche ideas when you brainstorm and then you need to research one by one. It is vital that you spend some time doing keyword research and looking at your competition. How will you differentiate yourself, some of the most profitable blogging niches have a lot of competition in them already. And if you don’t want to bring something unique to the table, then it might be really difficult to succeed with this blogging niche.
4. Getting started with a Content Plan
After everything that I said is done, you already chose your niche. You need to actually get started on developing a plan for your blog. This may seem obvious by the step deserve some attention. Figure out the scope of what you intend to cover on your blog and brainstorm important topics or areas related to your blogging niche. This will help you set up and make the best choices for things like designs, the structure of your blog for marketing, and other steps that will come later. It always better to have an abundance of ideas within your chosen topic rather than just a few and running out of content ideas right have you started the blog. And if it comes to traffic generation to your new blog always start with Pinterest because it will give you the fastest result before Google will start recognizing that your site even exists.
Now that you know the steps to choosing a blogging niche. I will tell you the most profitable blog niche for this year 2021 according to my opinion.
Most Profitable Blog Niche Ideas in 2021.
- Lifestyle Blogs
It is probably the broadest way of defining this blogging niche. I myself really get confused about this term and I understand that lifestyle blogs can include parenting or mummy blogs as well as multi-topic blogs that explore fashion, beauty, health, fitness, makeup, and other topics. Lifestyle can also include topics specific for your everyday life professional or non-blogging career provided that they have wide interest.
Let me break it down to avoid confusion. Lifestyle means writing about a range of different topics that are connected through having the same audience.
For Instance, you might have a lifestyle blog where you write about fashion, food, and motherhood. The connection is that you’re writing for women in their 30s and 40s who want to eat well and look great raising young children.
The mix of topics is up to you, but it’s important to make sure your blog has a very clear brand to give it focus and direction.
As strange as it may initially seem to put “blogging” on a list of the best blog niches, blogging is actually a fairly popular topic for blogs. When you think about it though, it starts to make a little more sense. Most people get into blogging because they enjoy it, so it follows that they’d like to write about the subject as well.
Plus, when you’re already tapped into the blogging community, other blogs are an obvious resource for advice and news. This might help explain why there are blogs in this niche that see more than 100,000 visitors come in through organic search.
Fashion blogs are one of the most-searched-for types of blogs on the web. Should you choose to start one, there’s a fairly good chance you’ll be able to bring inorganic traffic fairly quickly since thousands of people are looking to follow new blogs in this niche. There are also many opportunities for sponsorships in this niche.
I know of a fashion blogger her name is Dr. Bukky. She is one of the Nigerian Bloggers I admire so much. Her website is www.pagesbybukky.com
She is a medical Doctor and a fashion blogger; do well to check her out.
Personal Finance Blogs
We all need money and many of us want to earn more, spend less, or save more. Managing your money can be pretty confusing which might be why so many people turn to personal finance blogs for help.
This is a niche, that isn’t easy to just jump into. While you don’t necessarily need formal finance-related education, you’ll at least want to have a good handle on your own money, and tips and tricks you can share with readers.
We all need to eat. Blogs about food can be hugely popular. You can gain a fair amount of organic traffic through recipe posts and you also have the potential to branch out into cookbooks and tutorials.
Advertising affiliate links or your own recipe book could all be great ways to monetize your food blog.
Health and Fitness Blogs
Health and fitness are huge topics, and you’ll definitely find an audience if you’re blogging about something in this area. It is a lucrative niche which means there are a ton of blogs that will be competing with you. The easiest way to build your voice is by narrowing it down to your general interest.
I’ve got a list of the best WordPress themes. A lot of those could work well for other health or fitness topics too. So take a look and see if one would be right for your blog.
Is there a topic that you know well and that you could teach others about? That could become a great niche for you.
For instance, perhaps you’re a keen amateur website designer and you could write detailed tutorials for beginners. Or maybe you’re an experienced fashion designer and you could offer tips for people learning how to sow clothes.
Sites that teach people how to do something can almost always be monetized through selling eBooks, online courses, or other information products.
You could spend forever trying to pick the very best blogging niche. Or you could start your blog and six months or a year from now you could be making good money from it.
First choose a niche that interests you and make sure you have a clear idea about how you can monetize it.
Then, choose a domain name that works well for your blog topic.
Finally, sign up for a hosting account and register your domain name. I recommend Namecheap, which will cost you less than $3/per month (this is a special offer for my lovely readers)
That’s all you need to do to get started with your blog.
